Arun-Adur Ramblers

We are a very friendly group and we hope that you are able to join us at one of our social events.  Many of the walks, especially the mid-week ones, include the opportunity to have refreshements and a chat afterwards.

At the present time, we do not have a Social Secretary so if you have an idea for an event you would like to run/host, please let any member of the committee know.

Informal WhatsApp Group

One of our members, Joanne, has set up an INFORMAL Whatsapp group which is used to share photos of walks,  organise lift sharing and sometimes to relay information/news. It is very much a social group and not an official Rambers  method of communication, hence the usual proctections provided by GDPR do not apply, e.g. everyone in the group will have access to all phone numbers etc.  If you would like to be added, please let Joanne  or any of the committee members know by speaking to them on a walk. Due to the nature of this WhatsApp group, no-one will be added unless they are regular walkers with Arun-Adur.

Guided tour of Arundel Town - (Arun & Adur Group only)                Friday, 11th September

A free guided tour of Arundel on a Friday evening in which some of the history of the town will be explored.

As some of the group are aware, I volunteer in Arundel Museum and over the course of this year have been immersing myself in its history to enable me to lead tours for groups of museum visitors. Having now successfully led a number of these, I would like to offer a free tour to any regular walkers with the Arun and Adur Ramblers group.

I'm planning that the tour will take around 1hr15mins - Ihr30mins. It will be at a very leisurely pace with frequent stops whilst I natter on about things. The idea is that at the end of the tour we could all visit a local venue for coffees, a drink, pizza etc. I have a couple of places in mind, either Fauna Brewery opposite the Cathedral, or the The Burger Shop by the town war memorial. Both have outdoor spaces that could easily accommodate a large group of us. I'll sort out which one nearer the time when numbers are known

So, if you're up for a walk and talk followed by some good fellowship afterwards, please let me know by email or my private WhatsApp. I will need a fairly definite idea of numbers beforehand.

I'm hoping that this will be a popular event and it's for that reason that this invitation is only for those regular walkers with the Arun and Adur group.

Start time 6pm          Estimated finish time 9pm

Location: Meet outside Arundel museum at 6.00pm. Mill road carpark is free after 6.00pm and Mill road itself will have some spaces available at this time. If coming by train Arundel railway station is a 15 minute walk from the meeting point. Take the path into town that starts at the immediate back of the Castle Cabs taxi office in the station forecourt. Head into town and after crossing the bridge turn left and the museum is opposite the Castle entrance.

UPDATE - BOOKING for Daishes now closed but independent option still available.  Please contact Mike Charman on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you wish to join us.

Huge thanks to Mike Charman who is organising this year’s holiday for the Group and is proposing the following:

Having had two successful years using Daish Coaches for our trip I have decided to stay with them for October 2026 – they are not luxurious but I believe provide value for money as they include half-board hotels and coach travel from Sussex.

This year’s venue is the Abbey Lawn Hotel (www.abbeylawnhotel.co.uk) in Torquay from Friday 16th October until Tuesday 20th October with coach pick-up points from Shoreham, Worthing, Arundel and Chichester.

Walks will be arranged on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with hopefully 3 separate walks each day of differing lengths & difficulty.

Costs are:

£305 per person sharing a double/twin room (7 rooms reserved with more available)

£315 per person in a standard single (6 reserved)

£330 per person in a single with garden views (3 reserved)

£455 per person in a double room for single occupancy (7 reserved)

If you wish to join us please email Mike on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. stating which type of room you require – first-come, first-served.  Once the 9 singles are booked Mike will contact you to see if you wish to take a double for single occupancy at the extra cost.

Once a room is confirmed a non-returnable deposit of £50-00 will be required - The Ramblers Association, Sort Code 60 83 01 Account Number 20356271 Please email both Mike and cc our Treasurer This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that we can keep track of deposits paid.

Please feel free to make your own travel & accommodation arrangements and just join us for the walking – the nearest Premier Inn to the Abbey Lawn is quoting £256 for room only for 4 nights with immediate payment but cancellation available up to 28 days before start date. There are many other hotel or B&B options in Torquay.

I plan to set up a WhatsApp group so when booking please confirm you wish to join this group and provide the mobile number you wish to use.
